"Roses shouldn't waste their thorns on each other."

This reminded me a lot of Stalking Jack the Ripper, but it was still unique and amazing! It's dark and captivating, and so suspenseful—I was hooked until the very end.

A lot of the time, when I read standalones, I wish there was a sequel. But I feel like The Corpse Queen ended well and was the perfect length. It was a little surprising at the end, but it wrapped up the story.

One of the good things about The Corpse Queen is the pace; it's not too fast or too slow, so it's easy to follow but engaging.

I also liked the characters. I loved reading about Molly Green and Tom Donaghue. Molly is basically your typical mystery-solving, butt-kicking main character, but she was interesting and fun to read about. Tom was a good...side character? I'm not really sure what his role is. There were several other characters I liked, too. Ginny was a fun character, for example.

The murder jokes were fun. Morbid, but fun.

"What do dogs and trees have in common?"

"What?"

"They both lose their bark when they die."

There were a lot of plot twists I wasn't expecting, and some good action in a few scenes.

I loved The Corpse Queen, and I'm excited to do a reread of it. Maybe next year? 5 stars from me!
